LES NÉRÉIDES — Red Chilli & Lily Flower Earrings

Something hot, something botanical.

LES NÉRÉIDES cultivates a rather unlikely pairing: a scarlet chilli pepper suspended beneath a delicate white lily flower. Hand-enamelled over 18-karat gold-plated brass, each pepper curves into a glossy red point while green leaves and tiny floral details gather above.

A faceted crystal sits at the ear, introducing a little conventional sparkle before the composition descends into something altogether more peculiar. The chilli, meanwhile, carries associations beyond the kitchen: across Mediterranean traditions, the similarly shaped cornicello has long circulated as an amuletic form associated with protection and the warding off of misfortune. Les Néréides itself continues to associate its chilli-pepper jewellery with chance and protection.
