GIANNI BINI’s Penei sandal takes the familiar black evening mule and gives its ornament somewhere rather less expected. Two bands of plush black velvet cross the foot above a sharply squared toe, leaving the silhouette otherwise spare.

The real event happens underneath. A curved architectural heel is scattered with pearl and stud embellishments, turning a structural element of the shoe into its most decorative feature. A padded footbed softens the otherwise sculptural construction.
