The flowers are looking back.

There are pansies, and then there are pansies with eyes. These Schiaparelli-inspired curtain earrings translate the house’s long-standing Surrealist vocabulary into an exuberant arrangement of pink hand-painted flowers, bijoux and disembodied gazes.

Each pansy surrounds a textured Surrealist eye before giving way to a long articulated curtain of linked pink stones, golden elements and pearls. At approximately four and a half inches long, the construction turns the ear into little more than a point of departure. The combination isn’t entirely arbitrary: flowers, eyes and deliberately oversized costume jewellery all belong to Schiaparelli’s historical vocabulary; pansies themselves appeared in Elsa Schiaparelli’s 1938 Pagan collection.
