KATE SPADE NEW YORK’s Blaze a Trail begins with the mushroom and follows the idea rather literally. Smooth red leather forms its domed cap, scattered with bright crystals like spots across its surface, while a pale stem descends beneath it to complete the rather improbable silhouette.

The novelty, however, has been constructed as a proper little clutch. Gold-plated hardware frames the mushroom, a hinged top opens into a printed textile interior, and a central zippered compartment divides the space within. A wrist strap emerges overhead, allowing the whole specimen to be carried by hand.

Not everything gathered in the woods belongs in a basket.
